× Ghost Goby on Soft Coral < Prev BUY Favorite Next > Story behind the shot My buddy Curt and I were diving near the shore of Karumolun village in the Solomon Islands, and he pointed at something for me to see. I could tell by the smile on his face that he had spotted something special, so I swam quickly swam over to see what it was. He had spotted this tiny Ghost Goby (Pleurosicya micheli), measuring no more than 1/2” long, sitting perched on a branch of a soft coral. These little fish are skittish, and I knew the flash from my camera would probably spook it, so I framed up the shot carefully, thinking I wouldn’t have a second chance, and took this photo. The goby didn’t swim away, but it turned out that I didn’t need a second chance.
