Jacks at Barracuda Point
Story behind the shot
More than three hundred bigeye trevally (Caranx sexfasciatus) circled for hours in a large school that looked more like a tornado when seen from a distance. The jacks swam for hours like this, aside from one hectic flurry of activity to avoid an approaching shark. Photographed at Barracuda Point off the shore of Mborokua (Mary Island) in the Solomon Islands.
