Manta Ray Over Coral Reef
Story behind the shot
After a night of much kava at Kadavu village in Fiji, the next morning we dove at Manta Reef where mantas can almost always be found. On this dive we oddly hadn’t spotted a single manta. Then my good friend and dive buddy Antonio started waving his arms at me and pointing above my head. I looked up to see this huge Manta ray swimming about a foot over my head. He glided past me and then slowed down and curiously swam directly back towards me, so I ducked just below the edge of the reef, framed up the shot, and he swam right in to position. A totally surreal experience I’ll never forget.
